lmao. I’m actually writing this explicitly because my dad told me to write about it here. I can’t believe I’m even going to do this. Anyway, here goes.
Today’s Friday, and as everyone probably knows, there’s Fridays prayer. I usually wake up late and skip the lecture (I know that’s wrong) and be there just on time to pray. In Egypt that’s easy to do because there’s a mosque on every other street, but here in Kuwait they’re quite a bit apart – that’s because mostly every single person has a car and it’s too hot to walk anyway so it’s like proportional to that of Egypt.
Anyway so I wake up late as usual and mum tells dad about my weekly habit; and because we only have 1 car here (my dads) and dad being the nice guy, he told mum to drive him there, drive the car back so I could drive there too – to get there on time – and then I would drive everyone back. (I didn’t know all that until I got out after my shower.)
Knowing I’m late, I ran like rats. By the time I got there the prayer was over, I looked for my dad (and little bro) – nowhere to be seen. I saw a guy praying so I quickly joined in until my dad shows up – I thought he was just going to wait for me until I got there. I finish my prayers, look around, still nowhere to be seen; neither one of them. I take a drive around the block, back home, back to the mosque – to spot them perhaps anywhere, call from a local market – no answer.
I drive back home slowly, shamefully, looking for them. They had to walk because they were nice to me, I felt bad about it. Anyway, I get home and as soon as I open the door to our place I notice my brother walking around – they’re here. I walk in looking for my dad to apologize and he’s sound asleep! Like they’ve been here for that long?! Heh.
Dad keeps coming in every while telling me “shokran”.

I’m starting to like this type of blogging. Merely posting random events, updates, memos. As they come out. As I think of them.
Tetgawezeny? I love that song.
I’ve brought so many things together the past couple of days I’m starting to impress myself already. I like the ads banner quite a bit – here.
I’m really fond of Moataz, not because he gives me endless stuff and hasn’t asked for his money for two months now, and not because he’s most likely going to read this, but because I’m really starting to like being around him lately – so many common interests, he’s very well mannered too.
I miss school. (I mentioned that in the previous post I think.)
I was reading through the older posts and I came across a morons contribution to my blog – I want to address him, really, but I don’t feel like talking to thin air. I’m sure there’s nothing more to be said though, after GUCers current status and all.
I want to watch a movie, but which one? All the ones I have sound lame from the title; imdb seems to agree too.
I love my dads car. I drove yesterday at 160 kmph and my mum was right next to me; she didn’t even notice.
I really miss CAT. I miss psycho, bingo. Bakr, same7, 3aly. I’m puzzled as to why I don’t really miss the other guys – khemz. Or wait, I think I know why I don’t miss them; they barely know I still exist.

First of all, I noticed two weeks for a vacation is just too damn short! You can barely get anything done, nevertheless have some quality time.
I miss my car, like really very much. I plan on (literally) kissing it when I first come back to Egypt.
I did not finish not even 20% of dksystem v3.0, which was supposed to be almost ready for public beta testing by now; blame that on the 2 weeks we had!
Good news; I recoded theIntranet entirely from ground up again. It looks the same but definitely will act differently – the directory textbox on top of everything is now AJAX’ated (inspired by Facebook), and the whole thing should be much much much faster than before, I cut the queries by like 90% this time round (yeah, now it only uses 1 query rather than 10 queries per page view).
I packed the new German Center website with our new version of theIntranet, it should impress them as well as motivate more departments to want to be part of GUCers.
Burger King Egypt is far better than Burger King Kuwait, I wonder why that is though.
The system won’t show me my new schedule for financial reasons, although my sister gets to see hers without any problem (no comment here).
I bought some new clothes, although I don’t really care or mind going with the same clothes for years as long as they’re still intact.
I’m getting fatter, and I need to stop that.
It’s very hot here in Kuwait, the weather is far nicer than that of Egypt; I wish I never go back.
A guy tells me they’re going to teach us methods and recursion in CS the next semester. My first though: people couldn’t get the hang of the while loop in the first semester and they’re going to have to deal with recursion so soon, nevertheless, methods; wow, can’t wait to see the reaction.
I should be sleeping, dad’s alarm just went off.

And another vacation I spend abroad. I like spending vacations here in Kuwait, it’s a change and I get to spend lots of time with my dad whom I really really really really couldn’t wait to see, and generally speaking, I spend more time with my family.
I do however run short on developing time during my stay here in Kuwait, bad news now that I want to get dkSystem v3.0 done – which I did manage to see (excellent) output before take off.

What is better than being able to work with your favourite programming language, plenty of your favourite drink, and endless time?
I’m telling you, nothing!
I started working on dkSystem v3.0 last night and I got most of the core functionality done. It’s shaping out nicely although I haven’t seen any output yet
but that happens when you become better at something, your expectations land further down the timeline.
Anyway, at this rate it should be coming out before March, I hope. I wanted to design the structure properly first before actually working on the system, but I was too excited I couldn’t wait that long, heh; I had it all planned out during my finals though (everything major I decide to work on comes to me during my finals, lol).
Wish me luck!
*sips some vimto and goes back to work*
