Enemies – GUCers.com

March 29th, 2008 — 11:03am

What’s up with the enemies all of a sudden?

I come back last night only to find a friend sending me an email telling me watch your back some people want to take GUCers down. And the threat notes. Are some people really that desperate? A moron sent me a message like a week ago telling me you will have to say good bye soon – as if he’s going to take GUCers down real soon. Another idiot posted to my Guestbook telling me ddos attacks. WTF?

The only people that interact with GUCers at all are people from the GUC. Assuming they are, why would they want GUCers down? The ONLY point GUCers is there is so that EVERYONE can benefit – basically, THEM. I only set-up the whole thing because I felt people needed a reliable website to get the files they need from home – that’s why it all started the first place aslan. I coded theIntranet taking into consideration two things – easiness of use so that everybody would be able to browse it and download from it as quickly as possible, and easiness of contributing so that everybody would upload files on their own easily without anyone having to explain anything. How on earth did such an idea find its way to enemies?

Technically speaking, taking GUCers down won’t harm anyone. Not even us. The application files I still have, the database structure I still have, so even if the files were gone on one day that won’t matter because the value of any file lasts for like one week, after that nobody downloads it again – so we would only have to upload the latest updated files which are like 5-15 files. Basically, 5-10 minutes of work. The rest of the files could be uploaded when somebody requests them on the board – so on the contrary, that would help us by returning some more activity to our forums.

Nevertheless, I still have to admit, I didn’t see this one coming.

Java and PHP

March 23rd, 2008 — 10:28pm

I’m not going to argue which is best – they aren’t comparable, I still believe. In fact, I think I meant “desktop and web development”. It’s just that there’s this “conflict” between both that’s been bugging me for quite some time I need to tell it out loud.

I’ve been developing web applications for quite a long time. A very long time actually. For those of you who don’t have a “thing” they’re constantly doing I’ll have to tell you that when you do, it becomes a habit more than just a thing you do. It’s just like being addicted to coffee. It starts as means to making you stay up longer and then, even when it no longer makes a difference, you keep on drinking coffee just because you got used to it – a habit.

Now the thing with development is that it’s more than just a thing you constantly do. It’s a concept you adapt to. A routine to solve your problems, a method to trace errors and fix them etc. Web development is quite a strange concept if you ask me – especially when it’s focused around PHP. Every time you access a web page it takes you through a series of functions that are only accessible through that specific condition – the URL, the user you are, the browser you use (in some cases), etc. You’ll need to test more things because not only do you have regular users anymore, but you have administrators that have privileged access and more controls/options, and you have guests – you sometimes even have the specific troublemaking group, namely “banned” – each with their own set of functions, things they can do, all varying according to “where” you are, hence, what you want to do/access.

I think I’m going to start working on The GUCers Online System soon. I want to overuse JavaScript with this system though, I have a good feeling about the traffic on this one.

I love macaroni, really much.

I’m starting to really like Green Corner, it serves excellent food.

I want to start a diet, lol, like really soon.

I have a Math assignment due tomorrow.

I have to attend a first slot tomorrow morning to get the CS tutorial out of the way >.<‘

Message to a tutor

March 19th, 2008 — 10:03pm

I know I have the right to ask for a fuss being made. I won’t. Why should I? You decided to not give me extra bonus points (me and the rest of my group members – seen so2al: zanbohom homa eh?) because you are immature enough to take into consideration personal issues – w yareet lesal7ak, bas these personal issues are in my favour. I think I should be thanking you, at least you reflected me an accurate representation of my academic position. What’s sad is why you took things personally, you acted childish, as usual, and I chose to not react – does that offend you? That I ignored you? I mean, I usually would have insulted you but I respected the age gap – shouldn’t you have done the same? Respect?

A few extra points may have altered my GPA, but besra7a, kwayes enaha gat delwa2ty. I still have 9 semesters to look up for, if you average everything up on the large scale, your few points hayeb2o neglected, you will be neglected – like the last time. At least now I know how to deal with idiots like yourself.

Seriously, I take my thank you message back, you don’t deserve a word I’ve said about you. I previously thought you were a good example for an exceptional academic tutor. Now however, I think you are an excellent example for a loser. Whilst we’re at it, you’re son, you should teach him how to not be the clown he (and you) are, it’ll do him good. Trust me, I know.

I hope you read my message one day, I hope you feel my message. I hope you realize how pathetic I think you are, how low I think you are.
