Thesis Acknowledgements

My sincerest gratitudes and appreciation go to my parents for their faith and unlimited support to me.

I am also greatly thankful to Nourhan Labeeb, whom if it weren’t for her this thesis would have not been been possible.

I also owe it to Prof. Dr. Slim Abdennhader, Eng. Marlien Edward, and DFKI for giving me the chance to work on this project.

I would like to acknowledge and thank my supervisor Ralf Biedert for sharing his expertise and giving me guidance whenever possible. Also, I would like to thank Thomas Kieninger and Jane Bensch for making us feel right at home during our stay abroad.

Finally, I would like to extend my warm gratitude to my colleagues who accompanied me, some of which had agreed to being experimented numerous times — without them it would have never been the same. I would like to specially thank Dalia Badawi, Iman Mansour, Khaled Shokry, Loai Ghoraba, Menna Amer, Mohamed Emad, Mohamed Gad, and Rana Ashraf for their humongous moral support during the tough periods of my stay.

I finally shaved! I look.. human again! (Well, technically just less beast. But anyways.)

Regarding my thesis, I finally have (visual) output! Just over 3 weeks of work and I finally have something to look proudly at! (It’s not entirely my work, but a pretty decent compilation and integration of several components, and of course some of my own – more on that in the future though, maybe.)

I just bought a pair of stereo headphones (Philips SHP1900) and I absolutely them! They were on sale at MediaMarkt for €6 and I just had to have them – for future use on my iPod touch (more on that next update, I hope.) If you happen to know a place that sells that model for less than this price, be kind enough to _not_ mention it to me – I am really in love with them, don’t spoil it. :)

Oh yeah, reminds me. Some music suggestions would be great :) If you’re a music freak recommend something nice to me. I don’t even have a clue how to start looking so I suppose the music addicts out there probably have a better shot at this than me. I absolutely LOVE Grenade, Bruno Mars so more like that would be awesome. Just reply to this post with your song suggestion or just tweet it to me @kamasheto or something. That would be great, thanks in advance!

Oh yeah, that reminds me too – I’m off twitter for some time. Or at least using it less often. Paying more attention to my real life, I think. Twitter (online networking in general – Twitter, Facebook, IMing, et al) is/are just sucking the life out of me. Don’t let that stop you from mentioning me some song recommendations though!

Random Updates

One day, you attempt to write. Half way through the post – the one you originally had in mind, you remember you’ve missed out important background info. You add that. And it happens again, new background info shows up. 30 minutes in and you’re too lazy to go on – you just Cancel the whole thing.

The next day, it happens again. Only there’s more to tell because you kinda lived one extra day. And it goes on and on and on.

What does it lead to? You not writing. Wanting to take down your blog or tumbelog or whatever.

Meh, by you I really mean me. But once again I’m too humble to speak of myself.

Anyway, some KISSing won’t harm ey? Here goes.

I’m in Germany. Kaiserslautern to be precise. Been here since March 1st. Working on my thesis and all.

Brain neuroscience: the thought of knowing you is really interesting, but you’re not. You’re boring.
